I am Angela Voges and I like books so much I help make them for a living.

Back in 2005 – many manuscripts ago – I founded Typographica Manuscript, which offers development editing, copy-editing, production editing and proofreading in trade (fiction and non-fiction) and academic publishing, for publishing houses. I manage the editorial process from the manuscript development stage to master set, including author relationships – even the tricky ones – independently, personally and invisibly. I write reader’s reports on fiction and narrative non-fiction manuscripts, and do comprehensive manuscript assessments. I have written and co-written twenty-seven titles for South African schools and TVET colleges, and have been overwriting manuscripts for over fifteen years for content, structure and language level, often honing text for second-language readers.

I have an MA with distinction in English (Creative Writing: Poetry) from the University of Cape Town and full membership of the Professional Editors’ Guild (PEG) and the Academic and Non-fiction Authors’ Association of South Africa (ANFASA). I work, among others, with Jonathan Ball Publishers and its imprints Tafelberg, Kwela, Human & Rousseau and Queillerie, Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Cengage Learning, HSRC Press and Macmillan South Africa.
